When: Wed, Apr 1, 2026 1pm-4:30pm
Where: In-Person, Wenatchee Convention Center, Wenatchee WA

Description:
Across Washington, there is increased interest in building out a safer and more connected active transportation network, particularly given the explosion of electric mobility devices. However, the current active transportation funding environment is very tight, with inflation eroding local budgets, state dollars spread thin, and a federal administration that is emphasizing driving more than other modes. What are local communities to do when it comes to continuing or amplifying their investments in active transportation? If you would like to increase your knowledge about the dollars and cents of active transportation infrastructure funding, this is the course for you. Our experts will share innovative financing mechanisms and grants that communities across Washington have tapped to specifically generate funding for active transportation, and what it takes from jurisdictions and the advocacy community to bring these resources to bear. You will also learn about potential changes to federal and state funding arising from major funding bills and administrative direction. This session will be interactive and include a group exercise in which we will build a funding package for an active transportation project and learn key elements of grant applications and how community support can help push funding packages toward success. Following the course, join us on a walking tour of some of Wenatchee's excellent active transportation infrastructure and learn from city staff about their process for planning, funding, and building these projects!
