MUTCD 11th Edition Update

ON-DEMAND, Available anytime.

The transportation engineering community has asked and we have responded with an on-demand online training that will ensure you receive timely training and information on the new manual that replaces the 2009 Edition! We will familiarize you with the background about how the MUTCD is changed, important organizations that influence the Manual, and provide you resources for you to learn more about the research that is the basis for significant changes. You will find out significant compliance dates, the State adoption process and schedule and gain some insight into how road users are informed about the changes in the new manual. We will make sure that you are familiar with the resources FHWA has provided to inform the engineering community and the public at large about the MUTCD.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) issued the final rulemaking notice for the Eleventh Edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) on December 23, 2023. As part of their rulemaking process, FHWA proposed 647 significant revisions. Not all were adapted but the number remaining resulted in a very significant revision to the 2009 edition.

Intended Audience

This short course assumes basic knowledge of the MUTCD and will provide experienced practitioners with the updates from the new revisions. If you need basic MUTCD training please see the PacTrans Workforce Development Institute 2hr course, Core Module 4: Overview of the MUTCD.
